Kuma’s Corner Fifth Anniversary Blowout Extravaganza Chicago, Ill. 7/10/10

This was one hell of a weekend and there is a lot to cover to I’m going to keep it short and sweet in an attempt to not bore the living crap outta you. About three months ago our friend Luke from Kuma’s called up and wanted to know if the boys would be interested in playing the fifth annual Kuma’s birthday bash. A full day event of taking in all things rock, meat, and barley? Done. Flying to a show was a first for us and the rest of us were a little scared since John doesn’t do well on planes. The was a minute were we thought we might have to get all B.A. Baracus on his ass and slip him a roofie in his milk, but it turns out a couple cocktails in the airport bar set him straight. Carry picked us up at the airport and we rallied across town to catch up with J.J. who was so happy to see us he broke into Riverdance. Woke up the next morning, headed to Kuma’s and immediately dove head first into a burger. Look at that damn thing. You have to be part python just to get your mouth around it...

East End's July 4th Block Party!!

HO -LY SHIT! Those East End bros know how to throw a fucking PARTAY!!! They had the whole block of Ash St. between Grand & MLK blocked off for the whole day. They were grillin' up some juicy dogs, servin' up cold, delicious ice cream, and PLENTY of big ass cans of Tecate & Pabst. And, we got to rock out in the middle of the street to a bunch of raging PDX party hounds! Twas AWESOME!! And our pals, Lord Dying, shredded their way through their first show ever.. Watch out for these guys, they are gonna take the metal world on a fantastical trip. I mean, it's dudes from Le Force & Black Elk for chrissake!! Thanks to the East End crew and all the folks who showed up and made this July 4th one for the books.. I took a ton of photos, but most ended up even blurrier than the above crowd shot, but I saw tons of cameras there, so if anyone has some killer shots, let's see em! The night got a little blurry after the sun went down, but somewhere along the li...

Sunset Tavern 10 year Anniversary Show 6/26/10

I know it's been a week and half, and this post is long overdue.. but, better late than never, right? The Sunset Tavern 10 Year Anniversary show in Ballard was a total blowout!! Sold out raging crowd, awesome bands, old friends and new ones.. a perfect show in every way. Thanks, Ballard!! We will always love you! Before the show we headed over to KEXP to guest DJ with Hannah Levin on her Audioasis show. Normally, we get all shy and nervous when you put a mic in our face, but David kept it together like a seasoned pro, as you can see in this photo. Truly, a face made for radio. Thanks, Hannah, for letting us take over your playlist for an hour and crank out some bitchin' NW tunes from C Average , Federation X , etc.. let's do it again soon! OK, short and sweet-ish. I'll try to catch up with a July 4th post today too.. stay tuned. -Sherman

Chico, California 5/19/10

Holy crapballs! I can’t believe I forgot to put a Chico post up. That show/ town ruled! How did I forget the last show of tour? This is where the excuses start flying about going straight back to work, moving and the like but the truth is a just spaced it. What an asshole. Even though it was the last show of tour Bryan didn’t take any chances, he still put some fresh duct tape on his guitar That’s how he gets that buttery tone… Okay listen, I’m not suppose to tell anyone this, but the truth is just in case someone in the band gets sick, injured, abducted by aliens (again), or dies we have built robotic duplicates of ever band member. We let Aaron’s double hang out for the last show: You can tell by the eyes… After the show we stayed with some of the nicest people ever and I can’t remember their names because, once again, I’m an asshole. Man this is a terrible end of tour blog. Luckily I have waaaaayy to much dirt on these guys for them to ever fire me. Once again we’d like to thank eve...

Oakland, California 5/18/10

I was going to write a rap song in tribute to my favorite Oakland celebrity Too Short for this entry. It’s was going to be all about my tough life on the streets, spitting game to ho’s and being an all around playa, but then I remembered that tough experiences on the streets of Portland consist of having a hard time finding a parking meter that takes credit cards. So I went on a mission to get “hard.” The first person I ran into was our good buddy Sonny from Saviours who is from the hard streets of Oaktown: He was to busy doing sound for the show to toughen me up, so it was out in to the mean streets (AKA the school of hard knocks) on my own. Well, I didn’t want to go to far away from the van because, you know, there is strangers out there . I told John that I was going to start a gang called Satan’s Dentists and he wanted in, the only problem was in order to be in the gang you have to get beat in and I don’t really like fighting so I told him he had fight his drumset. He put up a good...
