So, the School of Rock kids have a totally bitchin' show this Saturday at Hawthorne Theater in Portland. They are playing all kinds of rad stoney songs you LOVE , and have even thrown in a Red Fang song - Good to Die - that I'll be sitting in on. The above photo is from our practice tonight, where these kids TOTALLY had our song down and I felt like I was the newbie! I was actually pretty nervous walking into this den of young shredders.. I mean, check out this pic below.. This is in the lounge where at any given time there are 20 kids just sitting around talking shit and completely SHREDDING!! They don't even realize how badass they are. These dudes were just standing there... SHREDDING!!! Dude has on a VOIVOD shirt!!!!!!! So, if you live in Portland (or close), please come spend $10 to see some kids rip it up this Saturday at Hawthorne Theater 4-7pm. They are playing SLEEP, QOTSA, HIGH ON FIRE, COC, BLACK SABBATH, BLUE CHEER, and many many more.. By the way, th...

Stumptown 11th Anniversary Party w/ Baroness & Kylesa 12/4/10

For those of you who don't know, Stumptown is a killer coffee roaster here in Portland run by a rad dude named Duane . This year, for their 11th anniversary party, Duane rented out Berbati's Pan, filled it with employees and pals, and had Baroness , Kylesa , and us kick out some jams. It was fucking awesome. Thanks, Duane!!

Unannounced Tube show 11/18/10

Our buddy, Mikey, is selling the Tube at the end of the month so we wanted to squeeze in one last party show while he was still drunkenly steering the ship. Nice and casual with no promotion - just texts and word of mouth. It was loud and fun like a house show, but with a full bar. Thanks to all who found out and came out on such short notice! And thanks to Witch Mountain for playing, too. I'm gonna go lay down for a while.

The Rest Of It

I’ve been sitting here for the last three days trying to figure out how to tie the last three shows together and wrap up the rest of the tour. For a while it started to look like that scene in Ace Ventura when he's trying to figure out the Finkle and Einhorn connection … Then it hit me! What links this all together? Awesomeness. That’s right, All three shows were chock full of awesome. Let’s take a look at some photos and you’ll see what I mean. Denver: A green room full of beer, BBQ and one white pony: Awesome. Staying with Aaron’s folks: Awesome. Look at those two. How can you not have a good time? Maybe if your idea of a good time is getting kicked in the crotch while eating a dog shit taco, you might not have any fun. But if that’s what you really wanted, I’m betting Aaron’s dad would probably work that out for you. Salt Lake City: Punk rock girls with 666 dyed in their head: Pretty awesome. Not to mention getting to hang with Tonino and all the Salt Lake homies. Although, 3.2 ...

Houston, Texas

Houston was our last show with the Valient Thorr guys and we ended the tour with them the same way bands have done for thousands of years, with shared guitar solos: Dudes dressed up like dogs from outer space: Expressing our love for one another: The ceremonial shotgunning of beers: And finally, the half naked group shot: I know it’s weird, but who are we to fuck with tradition? —Coyle Tour To Live!

Texas. Well, Most Of It...

I think it’s pretty safe to say that this is one of the weirdest tours any of us have ever been on—a real rollercoaster of emotion. We rolled the van (holy shit!) but we’re only okay (fuck yeah!), might have to cancel the tour because unless we can find a van (dammit!), we got one for free (Hellz yeah!) and so on and so on… So it’s no surprise to anyone that the last few days kept up with theme. Austin, Texas We’ll start off in Austin. The VT guys had the night off so we put together our own show at Trophy’s. Rolling in to town with three hours ‘til load-in we headed over to our friends Jake and Adrienne’s house where we were treated to the best meal we’ve had since leaving home. Complete with vegetables that weren’t on top of truck stop burgers and fruit that wasn’t in Gummi form. We made our way to the show with the top button of our pants open and smiles on our faces. The show went off. Seeing as we were in Austin the boys even dusted off the Cherubs cover from the tour EP… Man, I’...

Albuquerque 10/19/10

The truth is one of my longtime friends, Fathead, was at this show and I paid absolutely no attention to anything or took any photos of this show because we were too busy catching up on the glory days. The times before you could feel your man-boobs bounce when you run down stairs and you could drink fifteen beers and get up at eight am to go skate. When people didn’t mistake you for homeless and give you change on the way to work. (True story, both Bryan and I have had this happen) You know, the good times. So I was a little worried I would have nothing to blog about, luckily the Super 8 took care of that for me. I’m hoping there was some sort of snafu at the front desk because or this is what housekeeping considers a clean room: —Coyle Tour To Live!
